An INSURANCE firm has donated £5,000 to support Linzi and Taylor Prescott’s Everest base camp challenge this October.

Linzi and Taylor Prescott are joining 38 other intrepid Steve Prescott Foundation (SPF) supporters in the challenge, three days after the Super League Grand Final.

Insurance brokers Inspire Risk Management have given £5,000 to help cover the costs of Linzi and Taylor’s challenge and ensure that other donations will go to the SPF which supports the Christie, Try Assist and the SPF Special Causes Fund.

Neil Reid, chief executive of Inspire completed the Spectrum Kilimanjaro Challenge last year so he knows the sort of challenge that Linzi and Taylor are facing.

Neil said he wishes Linzi and Taylor, who plays football for Liverpool Academy Under 14s, the best of luck for what will be “an epic challenge”.

He said: “The great man will be immensely proud of you and we are very proud to support you on this amazing challenge.”

Linzi said: “I cannot thank Inspire enough! We might not be saying that come October… but it was their generous offer that finally made us commit to the challenge.”

The party of climbers, led by SPF trustee Ade Cunliffe will set off on their adventure on October 13 and return to the UK on October 28. Those who have already signed up for the challenge include St Helens actor Michael Parr who plays Ross Barton in ITV soap Emmerdale and former rugby league players Lee Briers, Barrie McDermott, Alan Hunte, Chico Jackson, Mike Wainwright, Ade Gardner, Iestyn Harris and Neil Harmon. Each climber has agreed to raise a minimum of £4,500 for the SPF.

After arriving in Kathmandu, the party will complete an eleven-day trek to Nepal Everest Base Camp and then continue to Kala Pattar to reach a finishing height of 5645m above sea level.
